Harvest Moon Ipswich – Vegan Stuffing, Apple and Walnut Burger
This was my first time visiting Harvest Moon in Ipswich, located where Hullabaloo used to be on 14 St Peter Street.
I’d seen that Harvest Moon were doing a Christmas menu, so I thought it seemed like a good time to check it out. It had already been on my list of places to visit, and I do like going somewhere when there’s something a bit different on the menu.
Harvest Moon had a few different lunch options, including soup, baguettes, platters, and a Harvest Bowl.
The Harvest Bowl had Brussels sprouts with vegan feta and pumpkin, along with green lentils, carrot hummus, and an orange, balsamic and maple dressing. It cost £10.
I’ll be honest, I’m not sure why I didn’t go for that, because I usually like trying something a bit different. I think I was just in a safer mood that day.
Instead, I went for the Stuffing, Apple and Walnut Burger, which came in a ciabatta bun.
It had slow-cooked red cabbage, parsnip ribbons, cranberry sauce and mayonnaise, and was served with seasonal salad, maple Brussels sprouts and vegetable crisps.
I particularly liked the maple Brussels sprouts, which surprised me a bit. I usually find Brussels sprouts quite hard to eat, but these had a nice sweetness to them and were actually really enjoyable. Definitely something I’d consider for Christmas.
The burger itself was nice and tasty, and the cranberry sauce and mayo worked well together. It definitely felt Christmassy to eat.
For £10.50, I thought it was a very fair price.
After that, I had to go for the oat crumble. I had one of these before when I went to Hullabaloo, and they remind me of the ones I loved as a kid from a bakery in Stanway.
So obviously, I couldn’t resist having one again.
I think I was in a very safe food mood that day and just wanted to relax with something I knew I’d probably enjoy — and I did.
Harvest Moon still has that warm, down-to-earth, welcoming feel that Hullabaloo had, so it’s well worth a visit if you’re ever in Ipswich.
