ALS Gongcha – Brown Sugar Bubble Matcha
This little drinks adventure took us to ALS Gongcha in Sheffield for some much-needed bubble tea.
This was my first time visiting ALS Gongcha. They actually had a plant series on the menu at the time, which made things a lot less confusing for someone who doesn’t have bubble tea very often.
As someone who loves matcha, that’s usually what I end up going for, and this time was no different.
I went with the Brown Sugar Bubble Matcha, which cost £5.50.
At first, that sounds quite expensive compared to some places I buy from locally, but this came in a huge cup, so it was basically a large as standard. Oat milk didn’t cost extra either, so after all that, the price wasn’t too bad.
For me, bubble tea is a perfect afternoon treat. Not something I have all the time, but when I do, I want it to be worth it.
I really liked the layout of the shop. It felt modern, clean, and like a nice place to bring someone along.
The team at ALS Gongcha seemed friendly too, which always helps when you’re ordering something and trying not to look like you’ve never seen a menu before.
The boba / tapioca pearls here are vegan, which is worth mentioning because some places use honey with their pearls. So if you’re ordering bubble tea and need it to be vegan, it’s always worth asking.
The drink quality felt good here — more Milksha standard, which is a compliment. As Milksha don’t offer vegan pearls, ALS Gongcha is definitely the better option for me from that side of things.
I wouldn’t hesitate to return here.
