Gaard 2 – Plant-Based Lunch and Coffee
This foodie adventure took us to Gaard 2 in Sheffield, located on West One Plaza.
All the food is plant-based, although they do offer dairy milk for coffee. It’s quite a small place, but it does have an upstairs area. Inside, it felt modern, so if you like that modern coffee house vibe, you’ll probably like it here.
I tried to sit upstairs, but it was packed, so I ended up sitting downstairs instead.
They had a selection of cakes, pastries, sandwiches and baguettes.
I went for the coronation chickin baguette, which cost £4.90, and a choc chip blondie, which cost £3.90, because it looked tasty. I also had my usual flat white, which cost £3.20.
On the receipt, it said there was no extra charge for oat milk, which was a nice bonus.
I did go into a few other coffee shops in Sheffield, and the prices surprised me a bit. I was expecting everything to be cheaper than down south, but some coffee houses were charging around £3.90 to £4.00, and then you had to pay extra for oat milk on top.
Maybe the coffee was really good, to be fair, but I was still surprised.
I don’t usually eat coronation chickin sandwiches, but this was surprisingly good, especially for a coffee shop lunch.
The blondie tasted how a blondie should taste, so no complaints there.
As for the flat white, I wouldn’t say it was one of my favourites. I’ve got a feeling they use a darker roast, and I prefer a medium-roasted, fruity coffee for a flat white. So the coffee was a bit meh for me, but still drinkable, and it did have some nice coffee art.
I would return if I was ever back in Sheffield.
As a coffee and lunch hangout type place, this is definitely my kind of spot.
