Café 21 Colchester – Vegan Biscoff Sundae and Cosy Café Food

📅 May 8, 2026 | ✍️ Sneaky305Club

We visited Café 21 in Colchester on 16th January 2025, during Veganuary.

I checked out Café 21 during Veganuary, and it quickly became one of my go-to spots. They had some great vegan specials, and I was drawn in by a post from Davina on the Colchester Vegan Facebook group, which showed a photo of the Biscoff Sundae.

As a Biscoff fan, it was obviously too tempting to ignore. It’s not exactly easy to find a vegan Biscoff sundae in Colchester, so once I saw it, that was basically my decision made.

What we had

Meatless Shepherd’s Pie (£9.75)
The Meatless Shepherd’s Pie was a comforting, hearty dish with lentils, vegetables, and a creamy mashed potato topping.

It was perfect for a cold day. Very much the sort of food that makes you feel like you’ve made a sensible life choice, which is rare for me.

Biscoff Sundae (£6.50)
The Biscoff Sundae had plant-based ice cream, crushed Biscoff biscuits, and Biscoff spread.

It was sweet, sticky, and properly indulgent. I double-checked with the staff that everything was vegan, because the sundae was so good I almost doubted it.

Cappuccino (£3.20)
I also had a dairy-free cappuccino with oat milk. It was smooth, satisfying, and exactly the sort of thing I wanted alongside the food.

Final thoughts

One customer mentioned how cosy the café felt, and I completely agree. It’s a lovely little spot if you’re looking for a warm, inviting café in Colchester.

They had some good vegan options available during Veganuary, and based on what I had, it was definitely worth the visit.

A cosy meal, a decent coffee, and a vegan Biscoff sundae. Hard to complain about that really.
