Level Best Café Colchester – Vegan Tagine Bowl and Café Food

📅 May 20, 2026 | ✍️ Sneaky305Club

I was kindly invited to Level Best Café in Colchester to try their vegan food and learn more about what they do.

This invite really stood out to me because of the amazing work they do, supporting adults with learning disabilities by offering meaningful work and training opportunities.

Having had one-to-one learning support throughout my education years, I’ve seen how important places like this can be. Organisations like Mencap helped me get work experience at Debenhams and supported me in getting my first job when I was 20.

I’m now 35, by the way. Lovely reminder that time has been getting a bit carried away.

It might have taken me longer to learn things, but I did get there. I worked independently as a cleaner and sometimes looked after the shop by myself, which was a huge personal achievement for me.

All it takes sometimes is someone having faith in you, and places like Level Best Café are helping make that happen every weekday.

So when Level Best Café invited me, I knew it was the right kind of place for me to be invited by.

What I had

Cappuccino with oat milk (£3.00)
I had a cappuccino with oat milk, which was smooth, creamy and nicely made.

Vegan Footlong Sausage Roll (£2.50)
The vegan footlong sausage roll was a tasty plant-based treat, and for the price, I thought it was very good value.

Tagine Bowl (£6.00)
The Tagine Bowl was a warming Moroccan-style dish with vegetables, chickpeas, fragrant spices, couscous and hummus.

It was comforting, filling and had plenty of flavour going on without feeling too heavy.

Chocolate Brownie Cake (£3.00)
I also had a slice of chocolate brownie cake, which was rich, moist and a proper sweet treat.

Final thoughts

The experience I had at Level Best Café was really lovely and everything I hoped for.

Supporting Level Best Café goes beyond just enjoying a meal. It’s also supporting a place that gives people opportunities, confidence and a chance to build real skills.

Thank you so much to Level Best Café for inviting me. I’ll certainly be back.
