Noodle Inn Centro – Chinese Food with Plenty of Vegan Options
This foodie adventure took us to Noodle Inn Centro, near West Street. It’s a very short walk from the tram stop, and it’s a Chinese restaurant with quite a big vegan menu.
Just to make it clear, it’s not a vegan restaurant, but they do have plenty of mock meat options if that’s your sort of thing.
We were right near Noodle Inn Centro that evening, and it was already on my foodie list to try, so we thought we’d go in on a Friday evening.
It was fairly busy, but service-wise, it was good. The waitress was pleasant, not rushy, and gave us plenty of time to decide what we wanted to order.
One thing I noticed is that you can’t really see what the menu items look like on the menu, so we ended up looking on our phones at Deliveroo, where they have their vegan side listed as Vegan Centro.
There were loads of mock meats to pick from, including mock beef, mock chicken, mock duck, and even a fake salmon fillet, which I nearly chose.
On this occasion, we went for some safer options that I knew I’d probably enjoy, as I was planning to share the food.
They had a good choice of drinks, but we fancied green tea. It was freshly brewed with green tea leaves, not just a sad tea bag floating around in a cup, so that was nice.
For starters, we had the mock chicken skewers, which were very tasty.
For the mains, we went for sweet and sour mock chicken and ginger and spring onion with mock duck.
The mock chicken was nice and crunchy, but not overly hard. It was just right. The mock duck was more chewy, but still soft to bite into.
The flavours were pretty much what you’d expect from those dishes, which isn’t a bad thing. Sometimes you just want the thing to taste like the thing.
On the side, we had simple boiled rice, and the rice was nice and fluffy.
I can’t remember the exact price, but I think it was around the £30 mark. It felt like a fair price for what we had. I don’t remember thinking it was really expensive, but it also wasn’t super cheap like Soya Express.
When I paid, I just remember thinking it was an acceptable price for a good meal, especially with kind and helpful service.
Overall, Noodle Inn Centro is definitely a place to try if you miss Chinese-style meat dishes, because there are so many mock meats to pick from.
