Lemongrass – Choo Chi Banana Blossom Worth Remembering
I’m writing this one again because recently I’ve been trying more banana blossom “fish” dishes. Some have been good efforts, but nothing has quite matched the Choo Chi Banana Blossom I had from Lemongrass in The Moor Market, Sheffield.
The flavours and spices in this dish really made the banana blossom stand out. If you’re looking for something memorable food-wise, this is well worth trying.
The dish is banana blossom coated in crispy tempura batter, served with basil pepper in a rich red coconut milk sauce.
The batter was crispy, flaky, and just how it should be. I do like a proper plate of food, and the portion size was very friendly with this meal. It also came with Thai jasmine rice, which worked really well with the sauce.
The meal cost £12.99, and for the quality of the food, I thought the price was very good. You can easily pay £18 or £20 elsewhere and end up with worse food, which is always a lovely little insult to your bank account.
I still think the old Debenhams in Colchester should become a street food market like The Moor Market. It would really give the town / city some life. If you have a passion for food, The Moor Market is definitely worth visiting.
I still remember my first reaction when the meal came out: “wow.”
I don’t say that often enough, so that usually means something has properly impressed me.
I haven’t found anything like it where I live, so I still remember this meal with great fondness.
