Sainsbury’s La Vie VLT Sandwich – A Vegan BLT Worth Trying

📅 May 6, 2026 | ✍️ Sneaky305Club

I tried this sandwich last year, and it was easily one of my favourites that I’ve tried.

We already liked La Vie bacon a lot, so naturally, I was excited to try this sandwich when I first had it at the end of last year. This time, though, I bought it again about a month ago because the reel I made before doesn’t really fit how I do reels and videos now.

So I knew I had to do it all over again, mainly because I wanted to properly cover this sandwich. It’s personally one of my favourites, and I think I’m going to do more posts like this for things I genuinely like.

The VLT La Vie Bacon Sandwich costs £3.00, but Sainsbury’s also does a lunch deal for £3.50, so you may as well just do the lunch deal really. Be silly not to, unless you enjoy paying nearly the same for less food, which is a lifestyle choice I suppose.

The sandwich has La Vie vegan bacon, lettuce, tomato and baconaise.

There’s not loads to say about it, because it basically just tastes like a BLT. I guess that’s the biggest compliment I can give it.

The bacon isn’t horrible either. It actually tastes like streaky bacon, and the texture isn’t like cardboard, which is always nice. My memories of vegan bacon back in 2013 are pretty dire, I have to admit. I’ve always had a bit of an interest in trying vegetarian and vegan food, even when I was still eating meat.

The baconaise works really well in this sandwich too. It brings everything together nicely, and overall, it’s just a very tasty sandwich.

I do wish one of the Sainsbury’s stores in Colchester town or city centre would stock it, though. The big Sainsbury’s near me is basically on the opposite side of where I live, and I’m not travelling across town just for a sandwich. I’m committed, but I’m not that committed.

Someone on TikTok from Doncaster even said it’s their favourite too, but they can’t find it in their Sainsbury’s either.

So clearly, it’s not just me suffering in sandwich-based injustice.
