Eye Falafel London – Great Falafel Wraps at Petticoat Lane Market

This foodie adventure took us back to Eye Falafel — a food market stall I first visited near the start of my vegan food journey a couple of years ago.

This review was originally written when I was plant-based, so it comes from that part of my food journey.

Eye Falafel is based in central London, at Petticoat Lane Market. Places like Petticoat Lane and Spitalfields Market are brilliant for finding little foodie gems, and Eye Falafel is definitely one of them. They serve proper top-notch Jordanian falafel wraps.

For me, a few things make Eye Falafel great: the price, the fact it’s all vegan, and the wraps themselves. They are the sort of wraps that make you smile while eating them, because they just taste that good. If I lived closer, I could honestly imagine myself living off these.

When you get to Eye Falafel, you can smell the fresh falafel cooking straight away. The aromas are lovely, and they usually give you a free hot falafel to try, which is a dangerous move really, because it just makes you want one even more.

Then it’s time to order. You can choose between a medium or large falafel wrap. As I had been wanting one of these again for ages, I had to go for the large. Obviously.

They then ask what you want inside your wrap. As someone who likes spice and loads of flavour, I had to have everything. They are very generous with the amount of falafel they put in, then it gets covered with hummus before the salad goes in.

The salad includes pickled turnip, gherkins, lettuce, onion and tomatoes, and it all tastes really fresh. Then you get the tahini sauce and hot chilli sauce. They normally ask if you want the chilli sauce included, but as I said, I wanted everything, so they didn’t really need to ask me.

After that, the wrap gets toasted, and you’re handed a lovely hot falafel wrap that smells and looks spot on.

The large wrap was £5, which I think is incredible value, and the medium wrap was £4.

It is definitely better than any supermarket meal deal. Go and check them out if you’re nearby.
